UPDATE: I have checked this laptop thoroughly from top to toe. No trojans, infections, nothing, checked for rootkits, the lot. All clear. Still have the occasional pop up only when accessing Deviantart - no other site.
Last one was nasty - responding to one of pendragon's comments an advert tab was opened instead of the DA page and a page purporting to be from Adobe complete with a supposed flashplayer download. It stated first "to view this page you need to upgrade Flash".
Now, I never install anything unless I really need to, especially Flash.
I checked the tab. The URL had the word "flashplayer" misspelt as "flashpalyer" and the tab was named ad0be instead of adobe. It was a trojan advert attempting to get me to install a dodgy Adobe most probably complete with a virus.
I am pretty sure this stuff was generated by an advert shown by Deviantart. It only appears when I am in Deviantart. The laptop is clean! I don't know what to say.
So, I've added Avast browser security to my browser but I'll probably only enable it when I am checking DA - and we'll see what it comes up with.
I've done a quick search and it seems I am NOT the only one who is having these pop-ups - plenty more are.
Anyone who browses or uses Deviantart is exposing themselves to these ads and the malware contained within. You must not browse Deviantart unless you have some sort of adblocker software installed on your o/s or within your browser. I have installed Adblocker Plus on top of the latest version of Firefox and it seems to be doing the job at the moment.
Type "deviantart dodgy pop ups" into google and see what is displayed. The fact is that DeviantART serves up dodgy ads and malware links. TAKE CARE.

Deviantart surely is an awful place these days!
I just briefly tried to return to DA after an absence of a year or so from DA and I find it is just as bad as I feared. The Eclipse project really was that, bringing DeviantArt's usefulness to an end. A darkness, an ending, an eclipse to the brightness that once was. The site is SO slow. Editing is terribly painful, navigating feels as if you are walking with an anvil attached to your leg. I had been keeping a few of my old blogs updated but I feel it is time to dispense with DA altogether and create my own site where I am not weighed down with the crap that has been layered onto poor old DeviantArt. My poor Intel i7 and 64mbs line wasn't enough for DA, it is as slow as any site I have ever visited on the internet. Like meeting an old girlfriend who hasn't aged well, DA is looking and feeling old, dark and tired round the eyes after all that plastic surgery. Well, at least it is has spurred me onto better things. TTFN DA.
The Eclipse Finally Cometh - Time to say Goodbyeee
Goodnight everyone! Goodbye from me to you and Deviantart!
We'll be seeing you...
You'll be in good company...
RocketDock Enhanced Settings Screen Pt 2
This journal entry follows on from the RocketDock Enhanced Settings Screen Pt1 that you can find here: https://www.deviantart.com/yereverluvinuncleber/journal/RocketDock-Enhanced-Settings-Screen-Pt1-798134061
It summarises the project I have been working on for the last year, ie. a replacement for Rocketdock.

Note the above mock up it isn't 100% complete as some elements will need to be improved, resized, relocated or their allocated space increased,

Oh good I'm not the only one! I NEARLY downloaded that Flash one because it looked so legitimate but then I looked at the url and the name of the file and had second thoughts and decided to leave it and wait until I was told by the Flash already on my laptop that it was out of date. OKAY WELL THANKS DEVIANTART I LITERALLY JUST HAD ANOTHER OPEN WHILST TYPING THIS MESSAGE ARE YOU FREAKING SERIOUS!!?!? Why is DeviantART doing nothing to sort this out?!
