U-Boat Dual Time Clock Yahoo Widget Screenshot

Description

This will be the U-Boat Clock Widget for the Konfabulator Engine - this is just a work in progress - a screenshot to test the water and see whether anyone likes it. The above screenshot could be used as a wallpaper too. It is 1920 x 1080 pixels. The widget will be forthcoming, just changing the functionality, turning it into a stopwatch rather than a dual-time clock. When it is complete will add it to DA as a separate download.

The Yahoo widget is now here:

History: Kjc66 was working creating a similar clock using the Xwidget engine and while he was working on his own changes I just decided to knock up another clock, this time for the Konfabulator Yahoo widget engine just to see how easy it is to build a clock for Xwidget and Yahoo widget. It turns out that the process is MUCH easier in the Xwidget engine.

For the Yahoo widget engine all the logic is done in XML and javascript code, in the Xwidget version there is no code required at all if you use Xwidgets built-in functions, timers, rotators &c.

What graphical changes did I make from the original Xwidget? Well, new hands with textures and depth, relocated mini-dials, new shadows and reflections to give more depth and brightness to the face, new shadows on the hands, a slightly new take on the rim, minor fixes to numbers and background. In the end I used the original image from Italo Fontana but at the beginning using Kjc66's parts allowed me to build a working widget much quicker. Added logic to allow more accurate timekeeping with a smooth-flow second hand. Doesn't seem a lot of changes but they all take time to complete. This was a learning process to migrate a widget from one engine to another. I have seen how Xwidget handles registration points, image rotation and shadows, I have determined its limitations.

I am now going to reverse the process and go the other way converting this U-Boat clock Yahoo widget to an Xwidget in order to test the whole process going the other way - creating my own Xwidget using javascript logic with my own graphics.

The idea is to make it look a little more realistic than the original, hope you think that is the case.

All credit to kjc66 for his inspiration and the work he has done to find the original source clock from Itala Fontana, Credit to kjc66 for his work and to Italo Fontana for making the original design - the real clock that goes on a wrist.

Thanks also to kjc66 for the inspiration to make me start presenting my widgets in a more dramatic fashion too!

You may use any of my images in your own creations but commercially only with my permission. In all cases I require a credit to the original artist using my name or pseudonym and a link to my own site.
