This is my steampunk desktop MKII, with the latest version of my orrery widget in the middle.
The widgets are all mine (except for the red one at the top)
It is decidely steampunk in look and in operation. All the widgets work, ie. they actually do something practical and respond to user interaction, bells chime, levers are for pulling, sliders slide and make the approriate sounds, &c.
They all use the yahoo widget runtime engine which means they can run on Windows or Macs without modification. Each widget runs it its own process, so it can die and fall in a heap without affecting the others.
My desktop uses a steampunk leather backdrop, rocketdock for the Mac-like launcher and my own steampunk icons.
Almost all the bits and pieces are downloadable here:
Very Sweet! I am new to Steampunk. I have always know of it but never really checked it out. Good God look at all the badassary I have been missing. No longer my friend and Thanks for sharing this. It's Wicked.
Thanks for your reply, I kind of searched the whole of DA, but I could not find your work in rainmeter category. In rainmeter its not possible to exactly replicate, what you have done. Anyway I will keep my eyes open and please do let me know if I can use your work. Thank you.
You simply download rocketdock. Install it. Create a folder under Rocketdock's icon folder, copy the icons in there. Rocketdock has a default set of icons, simply change each and select the steampunk icons.
To add a new icon simply drag the application's icon to the dock, then select a steampunk icon to replace it.
Very nice.. You really should convert this to Rainmeter. I'm sure there would be a lot of interest and I'd be more than happy to help out if you're not familiar with Rainmeter.
To add a new icon simply drag the application's icon to the dock, then select a steampunk icon to replace it.
